Inter@ctivate, Inc. Teams up with The Gorilla Foundation For Live AOL Web Cast Event on November 29
San Diego, CA, November 28, 2000: Inter@ctivate, Inc., a San Diego-based provider of new media strategies and marketing services, teams up with The Gorilla Foundation to produce and promote a live, inter-species chat and Web cast with Koko the gorilla on November 29, 2000 at 3:00 pm PT on AOL (accessed via AOL Keyword: AOL Live or via AOL.com and Netscape.com).
As the first gorilla to master sign language and inter-species communications, Koko is again breaking new ground on the Internet. She was the first gorilla to participate in an online chat on AOL in April 1998, which remains one of the most popular events in AOL history, and now she is using the Internet to reach out to an even larger audience through this chat and Web cast. As part of the event, sponsored by America Online and Target.com, Koko will chat with thousands worldwide about her plans to celebrate the upcoming holiday season and how she has joined the e-commerce revolution by shopping online with her caregiver, Dr. Francine "Penny" Patterson.
As consultants in new media and strategic marketing and sponsorship, Inter@ctivate is working with The Gorilla Foundation to redesign its Web site and provide ongoing strategic marketing services. The thousands of netizens who experience this unique event will be linked to the Foundation's site, www.koko.org, and will hopefully choose to support Koko's cause through online membership in The Gorilla Foundation. Another important goal is to help raise money for the development of Koko's new home - The Allan G. Sanford Sanctuary, a unique refuge for gorillas on Maui, Hawaii.
"Inter@ctivate is excited to be involved in such an exceptional project to promote a worthwhile cause," commented Jack Abbott, Inter@ctivate CEO. "We are using some of the most advanced multi-media tools available to facilitate one-to-one communication via the Internet. Furthermore, this Web cast is an excellent example of using technology to raise awareness of a great cause. Koko's a unique animal and spokesperson for the protection, preservation and propagation of gorillas. "
As one of San Diego's fastest growing providers of Internet development and marketing services, Inter@ctivate is employing some of the most advanced multi-media technology available. In addition to the live chat and Web cast, Inter@ctivate is working with The Gorilla Foundation to develop interactive Koko TV, produced by StreamingAccess.com, with video-on-demand. Based on Quick Time technology, Koko TV television will enable visitors to the site to view highlights from the Koko's world Web cast.
