The colorful lei above was one of Koko”s birthday presents this year (when she turned 33 on July 4th). She likes it so much that she often wears it during meals. Perhaps she”s sending us a message that it”s time to get on with completing the new Maui Ape Preserve – we agree! (Aside: Once we gave Koko an Hawaiian lei made of real flowers, but it didn”t last very long – she ate the flowers.)
