Most of you who tune in to Koko.org regularly are probably way beyond being surprised that gorillas can recognize themselves in a mirror – which is supposed to be a sign of conscious self-awareness according to psychologists. But this photo of Koko brushing her hair while looking in a hand-held mirror demonstrates more than self-awareness, it also demonstrates another typically “human” trait: vanity.
