Ndume”s enjoyment of his lettuce is enhanced by two factors: novelty and competition. In this case, Ndume had to search for it high and low (the bag with the lettuce was suspended high above him) and if he didn”t get it first, Koko would have snagged it.
Ndume enjoys his well-earned prize.
