Dear Koko Supporter,

In the above video we see Koko on the grounds of her home in the Santa Cruz mountains, circa 2003, where she had the freedom to go outdoors whenever she pleased.

Watch as she enjoys freshly picked strawberries from the garden, graciously sharing a taste with me. Then the fun continues as we walk down to the garden together, and Koko cools off, drinking from a garden hose and playfully running her hand through the water.

Koko also enjoyed watering the plants while we were in the garden.

Importantly, whenever Koko wanted to enjoy the outdoors, all she had to do was ask.

That’s the least we can do for other captive great apes (until they can become free-living again). Thanks for watching and joining us on an interspecies journey through space and time with Koko!
