Koko, here cuddling with her toy kitten, has inspired many students to focus on interspecies communication for this year”s National History Day project. Koko”s love, compassion and empathy for other species, and her ability to convey it in words through sign language, seem to give kids new hope that it”s possible to create a more peaceful world.
