Penny asks (Dr.) Koko where she (Penny) is having a problem, and the doctor points to her own right elbow. Penny then affirms that her elbow has been bothering her lately (“tennis elbow”), and points (signs) to her elbow too.
Note that Penny is pointing to her “left” elbow while Koko is pointing to her “right” elbow – which is correct if you”re looking at a mirror image (i.e., if Koko is trying to show Penny as if Koko represented Penny”s image in the mirror). This would be an interesting concept to test; does Koko always refer to the “mirror image” when talking about another person”s body? Anybody want to email us their hypothesis?
