Koko's Legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of everyone who's ever been exposed to her. She inspires us to make the world the kind of place she knows it can be — where interspecies relationships are compassionate and educational!
Koko passed away on June 19th, 2018, of natural causes. She lived at The Gorilla Foundation for 46 years, after being adopted by Dr. Penny Patterson. Together, they began the longest interspecies communication study in history, and the only one involving gorillas. Koko’s legacy is to make interspecies communication available to all gorillas.
